By William Shakespeare
Director: Karen Louise Hebden
Shakespeare’s most enduring and popular comedy of romantic adventure.
A pair of star-crossed lovers and a troupe of amateur actors discover a world of magic and mayhem where anything is possible. But will the love they find be real or just a midsummer night’s dream?
As the young lovers flee into an enchanted forest they find that the course of true love never does run smooth.
Director Karen Louise Hebden’s musical brief was one of Indian, exotic. Having to compose and perform this score alone, Kelvin turned to Tabla samples to help create a rhythmical-Indian feel to his romantic score. Although to underpin The Mecahnicals, the rhythm came from the pulse of sawing wood, sampled in his own garage, adding a little quirkiness to the comic scenes.
"...a sublime, exotic score."
